Remember the days when it felt like every movie had a European villain? Oh, that’s right – they never went away. Still, the new Mission: Impossible movie (which we’re going to have to keep referring to as Mission: Impossible 4 until someone responsible for the film comes out and tells us what the actual title is) is keeping that tradition going by casting Robin Hood’s French beauty Léa Seydoux as one of the main villains. But director Brad Bird isn’t stopping there – he’s also recruiting from India, with** Slumdog Millionair**e**’s Anil Kapoor tapped to be bad alongside her.
The pair will be doing the film’s dirty work alongside the already-cast Dragon Tattoo star Michael Nyqvist. So what’s their big, evil plan? Aha! That would be telling. And we can’t. Because we don’t know.
What we do know is that the evildoers will be going up against Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt and his all-star Impossible Mission team, including Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, Ving Rhames and some bloke called Simon Pegg, who we hear has been in a few films some of you have watched.
The script’s from Andre Nemec and Josh Appelbaum with plenty of input from producer JJ Abrams. And given all the set pics that have been cropping up online, we’re confident in reporting that Bird has already kicked off shooting the movie in Prague. Good thing, too – he has to deliver it by December 2011.
