She's currently burning up the screen as Nakia in Black Panther and Lupita Nyong'o has now signed on for another project that will tell a story with an African angle – albeit one with a lot less of a superheroic theme. She'll star in the adaptation of Daily Show host Trevor Noah's memoir Born A Crime: Stories From A South African Childhood.

Noah's book, which has been a bestseller since it was first published in 2016, chronicles the TV personality's younger days, and will feature his mother, Patricia Noah, who was an important figure to him in his early years. Her story took a more traumatic turn when his stepfather shot her in the head while on the way back from a church service; but she survived the attack.

Deadline's report offers no details on who will be making the film, beyond Noah, who hosts the US comedy news show four nights a week as well as his stand-up career, producing via his company.

Nyong'o will next be seen in Australian zombie comedy Little Monsters alongside Josh Gad and is attached to a number of other projects. For more on Black Panther, check out our Empire Podcast Spoiler Special on the movie.
