While Lupita Nyong’o’s phone has been steadily ringing with offers since she scored her Best Supporting Actress Oscar, her work in **12 Years A Slave **was already generating plenty of attention. J. J. Abrams was definitely interested in meeting her, which means we can add her to the list of actresses potentially snagging the female lead in **Star Wars: Episode VII{
Though the most recent attention has been on the shortlist for the male side of the hero duo (and Adam Driver’s rumoured offer to become the movie’s villain), Nyong’o is just the latest name brought up in connection to the project, which has seen Abrams and Lucasfilm / Disney meeting with thousands of actors in a long trawl to find the right talent to continue the story set in a galaxy far, far away.
And, of course, make sure you have the Rumour Alert Klaxon handy, as without official confirmation from the studio or Abrams’ camp, we still don’t know exactly who will be in the new** Star Wars**, nor what they will be up to. Nyong’o would certainly be a great addition to the cast, and the role would give her a chance to do something very different from Patsey. Hopefully, she’ll also get a few more lines than in Non-Stop.
Abrams is planning to start shooting the new Star Wars episode later this spring in the UK and Los Angeles. The film will hit cinemas on December 18, 2015. Meanwhile, why not check out everything we know about the movie so far?
