With its mid-season finale late last year, Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. took a big step towards broadening its canvas and deepening its links to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As part of the new developments, Luke Mitchell has joined the cast.

Before we go any further, we’ll offer a Spoiler Alert for anyone who has yet to catch up on the show.

Still with us? Right then... At the break between the halves of the season, hacker and fledging agent Skye (Chloe Bennet) was revealed as Daisy Johnson, also known in the comics as Quake, a member of the Inhumans, a race of beings genetically enhanced by Guardians Of The Galaxy’s Kree aliens. Her father, played by Kyle MacLachlan, has promised to reveal more about her background. Mitchell’s Lincoln, a charismatic Inhuman, will assist her in learning about her heritage.

The plan is for the plotline to set up the background of the characters ready for Marvel’s planned 2018 Inhumans film, which will explore more about them. Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to US airwaves on March 3, with the series expected back on Channel 4 around the same time.
