When the first season of Luke Cage dropped, Netflix suffered a two-hour outage — either a coincidence or a sign of the demand for Marvel’s bulletproof brawler. Following The Defenders, Harlem’s hero is gearing up for a second solo season on Netflix, hitting back with an ever more confident run of street-level heroics.
Mike Colter is, of course, returning in the titular role, but he’s not the only familiar face in Season 2. Simone Missick is back as Misty Knight, now with bonus bionic arm, Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple is back and now in an official relationship with the central hero — oh, and there’s Finn Jones’ Danny Rand, aka the Iron Fist. Fresh from their Defenders team-up, Luke and Danny will be reuniting briefly in Cage’s new season. From the very first issue of Pilot TV here’s an exclusive image of the duo back in action in Luke Cage Season 2.
Speaking to Pilot TV, Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker hinted that Cage’s fighting style will be influenced by Iron Fist in the new season. “Danny helps Luke channel his chi,” Coker teases. We’ll get to see much, much more of Luke Cage when Season 2 drops in full on Netflix on 22 June.
