The sort of socially conscious strand of horror espoused by Jordan Peele has scarcely seemed more relevant or needed right now. And the prolific writer/director/producer has not been sitting around since Us. He's produced a new series for HBO and Sky Atlantic called Lovecraft Country, which has its first teaser trailer online.
Created by Underground's Misha Green, Lovecraft Country adapts the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff. The series follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he joins up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams). This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback...
With Aldis Hodge, Christopher Meloni, Amirah Vann and Michelle Elaine also in the cast, the show has the backing of JJ Abrams' Bad Robot company. It's set to hit in the States and over here in August.
