Perennial Oscar-botherers Forest Whitaker and Renee Zellweger are set to harass the little gold fella once again.

At least, that would appear to be the plan – for the duo have signed on to star in a low-budget indie called My Own Love Song.

The story revolves around two friends – a wheelchair-bound former singer and her friend – who embark on a road trip to Memphis. Along the way, they learn valuable lessons about life, love, friendship and how to get nominated for Oscars. (Here’s a clue: playing someone in a wheelchair is a damn good start.)

The movie will be directed by Olivier Dahan, the Frenchman who knows a thing or two about directing actresses to Oscar wins – he helmed last year’s La Vie En Rose, which saw Marion Cotillard bag the statuette for Best Actress.

And it all sounds just great. We can’t wait to see it and be inspired.

Oh, and one more thing: Madeline Zima, star of David Duchovny’s Californication (don’t worry, we’re not going to make any jokes at Mulder’s sexpense – dammit, expense), has also joined the cast… presumably as Zellweger’s daughter. But we could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.
