Thus far, much of the talk around Amazon's ambitious (and pricey) attempt to bring The Lord Of The Rings to TV has been about the setting (somewhere in the Second Age) and the people hired to make it. Casting info started to arrive with word that Aussie actor Markella Kavenagh's in talks, and Variety brings word today that Will Poulter has landed another of the lead roles.
Quite what he'll be up to in the show is naturally being kept at the deepest bit of the Mines of Moria, but he'll be a key part of the show. And since the Second Age finds the Rings of Power being forged into existence, we'd be surprised if that didn't play into the show's story.
Running the series from behind the scenes are JD Payne and Patrick McKay, with Game Of Thrones veteran Bryan Cogman adding his fantasy/big scale telly chops to the mix. Director JA Bayona's also aboard to produce and direct several episodes, helping to set the tone and visual palette for the show.
As for when it'll premiere? That's still lost to the mists of mystery.
