How the likes of Vin Diesel and The Rock must be shaking in their boots. The search for Hollywood’s next bemuscled hero is on – in the dubious shape of Matrix producer, Joel Silver’s new television venture, The Next Action Star. In a quite shameless rip off of Pop Idol, Silver’s ten-part series will undertake a hunt across America for prospective saviours of the world – both male and female. The lucky twelve finalists will then move to Hollywood, where they'll be given acting lessons and combat training and be expected to perform a series of stunts before being voted off by the public. What can the lucky man and woman who win the whole shebang expect, then? Instant fame, adoring fans and multi-million feature film deals? Well, not quite. They’ll get to star in a TV movie wondrously entitled, Hit Me. The start of a glittering career, we’re sure.
