Given that they were obsessed with conspiracies and mysteries of all stripes, the biggest story The Lone Gunmen might end up investigating is their own. Though they appeared to die on a late episode of The X-Files, the cult favourite characters played by Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund and Bruce Harwood are set to show up on the new revival of the series.
They’re just the latest veterans of the show to join the new, six-episode incarnation alongside returning stalwarts David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis. And yes, it seems death cannot hold John Fitzgerald Byers (Harwood), Melvin Frohike (Tom Braidwood) and Richard Langly (Dean Haglund), even if they couldn’t quite sustain their own spin-off.
yep, it's true. > > — DEAN HAGLUND (@dhaglund) [July 22, 2015](https://twitter.com/dhaglund/status/623849442739941376)
Haglund broke the news on Twitter, confirming the quirky duo’s return in some fashion, be it that they faked their death, found some strange sci-fi way to return or will be seen in flashbacks.
The new series, which features creator Chris Carter and a sampling of the original writing staff back at work on episodes, also stars the likes of Joel McHale, Annet Mahendru, Rhys Darby, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose and Kumail Nanjiani, and is headed to American screens on January 24.
