Despite complaints about her hard partying ways, and the fact that she appears in more stories about what she’s been up to off the set than on it, Lindsay Lohan is still in demand for films.
She’s just handed the starring role in The Loss Of A Teardrop Diamond, which actress Jodie Markell will direct.
The script was written by American dramatist Tennessee Williams, but lingered undiscovered until after his death. A dramatic, sometimes maudlin tale, it tracks class tensions in 1920s Memphis and romance between a society woman and a plantation worker.
According to producer Brad Michael Gilbert, he wants to make the film appeal to the youth crowd who might not normally watch this type of film (ya think?), but could be drawn in by La Lohan. "They're not mutually exclusive," he told. "We're trying to make a smart picture for a young audience."
Markell starts work on the film in March.
