He might be the son of a god – in the Percy Jackson films, at least – but Logan Lerman will need more than a little help to survive in a new assignment. He’s just joined the cast of David Ayer’s tank thriller **Fury.

Lerman is the latest recruit to sign on, joining Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf in the story of a tank crew battling behind enemy lines in 1945 as the Nazi regime crumbles.

Despite their leadership falling apart, the German army posed a massive, desperate threat to Allied tanks and the men inside them. This particular crew faces a dangerous mission deep in enemy territory.

Ayer, who last directed **End Of Watch **and has Ten set for release next year, wrote the script on spec and sold it to production company QED, which has now raised an $80 million budget to shoot in the autumn.

Lerman will be back on our screens in Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters on August 7 (see the trailer below). He’s also playing Ham, one of Russell Crowe’s sons, in Noah, set to flood UK cinemas on March 28 next year.
