Jonathan Levine’s Christmas-set comedy reunion with 50/50 stars Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt still does not have a title. But it at least has just received an infusion of funny females, with Lizzy Caplan and Jillian Bell aboard.
The film finds Rogen, Gordon-Levitt and Anthony Mackie as three childhood friends who have for years enjoyed a tradition of going out on Christmas Eve. This time, however, things will be more eventful than usual.
Caplan, who is also part of Rogen’s latest James Franco comedy** The Interview**, will be a woman who catches Gordon-Levitt’s eye. Bell, who stole scenes in** 22 Jump Street** (no easy task given the overall quality of that cast), is set as Rogen’s wife. Levine wrote the new film, which Sony will produce alongside the Good Universe team that helped make 50/50.
In related Caplan/Rogen/The Interview news, that film – which finds Franco as the smarmy TV host who scores a chance to interview North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un and is then recruited by the CIA to off him – has been shoved back to December 25 in the States. There’s no word yet on what that will mean for the UK release.
