Lizzy Caplan is someone who has shown time and again that’s she’s capable of pretty much anything asked of her on screen, stepping easily between comedy and drama. Recently she's been impressing critics with her performance in Showtime drama series Masters Of Sex, where she not only has to play someone from real life, but do it in scenes against biopic master Michael Sheen. Now she’s set to tap her funny bone again for Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, entering talks for a prime role in The Interview.
Rogen and Goldberg are gearing up to start directing the film in a couple of weeks in Vancouver, working from a script they wrote based on a story dreamt up alongside Daily Show veteran Dan Sterling.
The premise finds James Franco playing a charismatic talk show host who, along with his producer pal (Rogen), somehow gets caught up in a plot to assassinate the North Korean prime minister. Caplan is coming aboard to play an agent (as in intelligence operative, not Hollywood dealmaker) named Lacey.
It’ll represent a reunion for the three actors, as they shared the screen in Freaks & Geeks. Caplan, along with her role in Masters Of Sex, was last seen in Marvel’s One-Shot** Item 47**. We’re also keeping our fingers crossed that the film based on late, lamented comedy series Party Down will still go ahead.
