Liza Admits Alcoholism

Singer and actress **Liza Minnelli has publicly confessed she is an alcoholic - but says she is trying to overcome her problem. Liza, 53, has started seeing a therapist and is attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, according to American tabloid The Globe. The famed singer and dancer, whose mother Judy Garland **died of a drug overdose in 1969, began drinking heavily in the 70s and tried unsuccessfully to get help for her problem during the 1980s. Over the summer, she checked into an alcoholism treatment centre and is now back on Broadway starring in her own show.
