Following Frank and Room, Lenny Abrahamson’s status as one of today's most promising filmmakers looks set to continue with his latest work. This time the director has adapted Sarah Waters’ gothic drama The Little Stranger, assembling a top cast – Domhnall Gleeson, Charlotte Rampling, Ruth Wilson and Will Poulter – for a spine-tingling ghost story.

Gleeson stars as Dr. Faraday, who ventures to faded country house Hundreds Hall in the late 1940s to tend to Roddy Ayres, a wounded war vet suffering from PTSD. As Faraday makes friends with the Ayres family – sister Caroline (Wilson) and mother Angela (Rampling) – strange happenings in the house hint at supernatural goings-on. We’ve got an exclusive clip from the film, which sees Angela have an unsettling encounter with the Hall’s speaking tube system.

Prepare for more hauntings and things that go bump in the night (and creak in the daytime) when The Little Stranger hits UK cinemas on 21 September.
