In the grand new tradition of He's Just Not That Into You, another self-help book has been optioned for the big screen, but this time it's pregnancy bible What To Expect When You're Expecting.

The 25 year-old bestseller was written by Heidi Murkoff and has remained popular ever since its publication in 1984, but now Freaky Friday screenwriter Heather Hach (herself currently nine months pregnant) has turned it into an ensemble piece about seven expectant couples. Hach had previously written an adaptation of another "lifestyle" book, French Women Don't Get Fat.

The joy of this plan is that it comes with built-in sequels and prequels, since Murkoff also wrote What To Expect Before You're Expecting, What To Expect: The First Year and What To Expect: The Toddler Years. But the big question is whether they'll put the gross bits of the book in, and whether anyone will watch it if they do...
