Hey kids! If you’ve ever dreamed of just getting by in a shattered dystopian society, and then being swept up in a lottery to find out if you’ll be fighting for your lives against fellow teens in a brutal, dangerous arena competition, then Lionsgate might just be dreaming up the place for you! According to the company’s CEO, Jon Feltheimer, talks are underway to create at least one theme park attraction based on the Hunger Games books and films.
Sadly for fans of versimilitude, there’s very little chance that any theme park installation will actually feature violent clashes between kids; the legal (and, incidentally, moral) ramifications of that would be prohibitive.
Details of what we might actually end up with and where it might all happen are still under wraps, as it’s all still in an embryonic state. Might we see a Hunger Games stunt show a la the Waterworld display at Universal? Or possibly a big 3D adventure? The possibilities are limitless…
As for the film franchise,** The Hunger Games: Catching Fire** will arrive on November 21, with two parts of Mockingjay, the final book, due over the next two years.
