Plenty of groups and singers have had musical movies made from their work. Now you can add Lionel Richie to that list, as Disney is developing a film focused on his back catalogue.

The film, which Richie pitched to the Mouse House (via, no doubt his connection to the studio-owned US network ABC's American Idol) in January, is in early developed and has a tentative title of All Night Long. From the sounds of it, it'll be more along the lines of Mamma Mia! than the biopic-with-tunes likes of Bohemian Rhapsody.

Whatever form it takes, Pete Chiarelli is at work on at least the first draft of the script. Richie, who has four Grammy awards to his name and boasts sales of more than 90 million, and solidified his reputation as one of the musical greats. If the film ends up being made and works at the box office, expect the pun game to include "audiences dancing on the ceiling at Richie movie."
