While Jon Favreau's new version of The Lion King has reached the point where the first teaser trailer is out the film is not done announcing voice cast members. And while our own Podcast team wondered what Favreau and co. might be bringing that's new, we know one additional element: Amy Sedaris will play a completely new character.

According to Variety's sources, Sedaris' role is that of an elephant shrew, a small rodent known for its long nose (hence the name) and a for being a speedy runner. Quite how the new character plays into the established beats of the story remains a mystery for now, though from the looks of the teaser at least, the film as a whole will hew close to the 1994 animated classic.

With James Earl Jones back as Mufasa, the cast also includes Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Beyonce and Alfre Woodard.

The Lion King will be out on 19 July.
