We learned last July that the ever-busy Lin-Manuel Miranda was looking to turn his hand to directing, signing on to Imagine Entertainment's adaptation of musical Tick, Tick... Boom! In fresh news, Netflix has won a bidding war for the rights to the movie, and there's a chance that Andrew Garfield may star.

Originally created by Rent's Jonathan Larsen, the show is an autobiographical work set in 1990, and follows aspiring musical writer Jon (Garfield, if he makes a deal, which is by no means guaranteed yet). While writing what he hopes will be the next great American stage production, he pays the bills waiting tables, while his girlfriend Susan wonders why she keeps putting her own life on hold to support his career aspirations. Jon's best friend and roommate Michael, meanwhile, has given up on the stage world to take a highly paid advertising job, and all three wonder if they've made the right choice.

There's no indication yet when Miranda would start work on the film, since he's already got various projects in the works. Crazy Rich Asians' Jon M. Chu is currently directing an adaptation of Miranda's own first musical, In The Heights, which will be out in June next year.
