At the rate things are going, we may reach a time when every movie eventually becomes a TV property. We’re not quite there yet, but two more candidates for goggle box adaptation have arrived on the scene, with word that Bradley Cooper thriller **Limitless and Tom Hanks comedy The Money Pit are both being developed for the small screen.
Limitless, you might recall, was the 2011 sleeper hit starring Cooper as a down-on-his-luck writer struggling to make ends meet. He gets the chance to take an experimental drug that lets him boost his brain power, scoring fame, success, money and power in the process, but he soon discovers that his newfound abilities attract attention from shadowy forces (including Robert De Niro’s shady contact), which threatens both his life and those around him.
Cooper is aboard as an executive producer, though we’re guessing that means more in terms of generally nodding towards ideas than the usual TV definition of running the show.
The Money Pit,** meanwhile, is now in the hands of NBC, which has former Office worker Justin Spitzer working up an adaptation. There’s no word on exactly what form the show will take – it could conceivably be another mockumentary sitcom – but it’ll follow a couple, as with the film’s Tom Hanks and Shelley Long characters, trying to fix up a troubled house.
