With **The Hunger Games: Catching Fire **due to hit cinemas this November, preparation work is fully underway on the next two films, both spawned from Suzanne Collins’ third novel, Mockingjay. Just yesterday, Julianne Moore was officially confirmed to play President Alma Coin and today brings news that Lily Rabe will be playing Lyme.
For those whose knowledge of the Games universe only extends to the first film or book, Lyme shows up in Mockingjay as the commander of the rebellion in District 2, one of the earliest territories to show defiance towards the Capitol.
Lyme is also a former victor of the Games, though she entered the arena a generation ago, and served as a mentor to those from District 2 who followed her. She becomes a key part of the assault along with the forces from her District.
Rabe has been seen in films such as No Reservations, All Good Things and Aftermath, and most recently cropped up on the small screen in the second run of American Horror Story.
She joins Moore, Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Liam Hemsworth, Natalie Dormer, Stef Dawson and Evan Ross in the film, which Francis Lawrence (no relation) is directing ready for release on November 21 next year, with the second part due November 20, 2015. Catching Fire, meanwhile, arrives on November 22 this year.
