Lily Collins Is Snow White

The flurry of fairytale casting stories continues as The Fall/Immortals director Tarsem Singh has locked in the woman he wants to play Snow White in the currently untitled film. So who will be the fairest of them all? Step forward Lily Collins.

Best known for playing Sandra Bullock’s daughter in The Blind Side, Collins will also be seen this year alongside Paul Bettany in dystopian vampire Western Priest and with Taylor Lautner in Abduction. She’s also been linked to the role of Stormy Llewellyn in Stephen Sommers’ Odd Thomas and as Clary Fray in Scott Stewart's The Mortal Instruments.

Singh’s take on Snow White follows a vaguely more traditional path than, say, competing project Snow White and the Huntsman, in that it sees the Queen (Julia Roberts) angered by the heroine’s flawless beauty and driven to have her exiled/killed. But she’ll show a little more backbone than the usual take on Snow, teaming up wit the dwarfs to reclaim her kingdom. Plus, she’ll interact with Prince Andrew Alcott, played by The Social Network’s Armie Hammer.

Snow White will kick off shooting in May and is scheduled to be out in the US in December 2012. There’s no solid UK date yet. Oh, and a tip of the hat to HitFix for confirming word of the casting with Collins herself.
