After the shoddy release treatment of his last film, Snowpiercer, Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho deserves some luck. He has Netflix and Brad Pitt backing his latest, creature feature Okja and is building the cast. Now Lily Collins has joined the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal, Tilda Swinton and Kelly Macdonald in the ranks.
Exact plot details on the film are still under wraps, but Bong has described the central figure thusly: "it is a bulky animal, but with a mild and kind spirit. The film is about a warm friendship between a country girl and a brute with stories. To me, the crazy world surrounding Okja and the girl looks more like a monster. I want to depict the two characters' bizarre journey and adventure across the tough world in an original fashion."
Collins is apparently set to be an anarchist named Red, a high-ranking member of the Animal Liberation Front. The film has already lost Bill Nighy, who reportedly had to drop out thanks to schedule clashes and Paul Dano is still checking his diary to see whether he can make the dates work.
This marks the second project Collins has joined in two days – she's also on board to star in Marti Noxon's directorial debut, a dark comedy about anorexia called To The Bone.
