Warren Beatty has been quietly trying to get his film about Howard Hughes, now called Rules Don't Apply, made for a few years. It's finally ready for the wider world to see and here's the first trailer.

Despite the presence of Beatty both behind the camera (he wrote and directed) and in front of it (he's playing Hughes), the focus is actually on aspiring actress Marla Mabrey (Lily Collins) and handsome driver Frank Forbes (Alden Ehrenreich). She's under contract to Hughes' film studio and he's the man to drive her around, with the golden rule being that no employee must have a relationship with a contract actress.

Still, sparks fly between the beauty queen (who happens to be a devout Baptist) and the driver, a staunch Methodist engaged to his childhood sweetheart, no matter how much they try to deny it. As they're drawn deeper into Hughes' bizarre world, their lives are forever changed.

The likes of Matthew Broderick, Annette Bening, Martin Sheen and Haley Bennett fill out the cast, and the Rules Don't Apply will hit American screens in November. A UK date has yet to be announced.
