If anyone can spot a talented female lead for a romantic-comedy, it should be Drew Barrymore. The actress / producer has How To Be Single in the works and has settled on Lily Collins for the gig.
Despite the title, **How To Be Single **is *not *adapted from a self-help book. The book was written by Sex And The City scribe Liz Tuccillo and focuses on a single woman (Collins) who’s searching for that special someone when she becomes jaded with the New York singles scene and heads off to learn how women around the world deal with being single. So like Walter Mitty but for dating? Probably not.
The book’s protagonist is 38 years old, although she will be youth-ified to accommodate the 24 year-old actress. The film is handled by German director Christian Ditter, who has another Collins rom-com,** Love, Rosie**, scheduled for release this year via Lionsgate.
Barrymore, of course, starred in and produced He’s Just Not That Into You, another Tuccillo book (co-written in that case with Greg Behrendt) that turned into a little box-office treasure trove.
Barrymore will co-produce with her partner Nancy Juvonen with the shoot taking place in New York.
