He may have been indicating that he was looking to throttle back on the action fare around the time of Run All Night’s release, but it appears the siren song of running and gunning is too much for Liam Neeson to ignore. He’s in negotiations to star in **A Willing Patriot.
Martin Zandvliet is in line to direct this one, based on Jason Keller’s script. The plot would find Neeson in familiar territory, playing a law enforcement official (in this case a CIA agent) that must outsmart and capture a terrorist who aims to carry out a devastating attack.
The project was originally bubbling away in development at Warner Bros. but has since switched to indie outlet MadRiver. “Liam Neeson is one of the defining actors of our generation and audiences will love him in this role. After seeing Martin’s new film Land Of Mine, we knew he was an incredible storyteller and the perfect match to collaborate with Liam,” says producer Marc Butan.
Neeson is at least changing tracks for his next few films, with cameos in Entourage, out June 19, and** Ted 2 **(July 10). He’s currently at work on Martin Scorsese’s latest, period drama Silence, and will also appear in Juan Antonio Bayona’s A Monster Calls.
