Bringing classic franchises back to screens hasn't exactly been a surefire winner of late – aside from Bad Boys For Life – but Warner Bros. remains committed to reuniting the Lethal Weapon team. And according to producer Dan Lin, it's getting closer than ever.
Speaking as part of The Hollywood Reporter's Producers Roundtable, Lin dropped word that stars Mel Gibson and Danny Glover and director Richard Donner are all still aboard, following reports that deals were being considered a few years ago.
"We’re trying to make the last Lethal Weapon movie," he says. "And Dick Donner’s coming back. The original cast is coming back. And it’s just amazing. The story itself is very personal to him. Mel and Danny are ready to go, so it’s about the script."
The legacy of Riggs and Murtaugh remains strong, but getting the elements right is the key. Fingers crossed this one might actually work...
