Shortly to be seen in Pride & Prejudice & Zombies with her Game Of Thrones co-star Charles Dance, Lena Headey is sticking with horror for her next movie. She'll star in The Woman Of The Woods for Wind Walkers writer-director Russell Friedenberg.
Headey will play a woman called Kelsay, who's in the process of splitting up with her husband. The couple embark on a final family camping trip in a remote area of the Pacific Northwest to break the news to their young daughter. But whilst there they disturb - you guessed it - an evil presence in the woods – which has a frightening effect on their offspring.
"Upon their return to Seattle, a police detective investigating a series of missing persons becomes convinced that the daughter is responsible," runs the official synopsis. "Kelsey must prove her daughter’s innocence, but to do so she must face the terrifying entity and spiral into greater and greater danger."
Myriad Pictures (Defiance, Goon) is the company behind the project, which Heather Rae (Frozen River) will produce.
"I'm totally amped to bring The Woman Of The Woods to audiences around the world with Myriad Pictures and the incredibly talented Lena Headey," says Friedenberg. "Lena brings an authenticity and emotional power to her work that is uncompromising. And Myriad has a track record of elevated and poignant work that we are proud to be a part of. Full speed ahead!"
The Woman Of the Woods is currently wheeling and dealing at the American Film Market.
