Biopics of well-known authors continue to be stalwart parts of filmmakers' plans. We have a Tolkien film on the way, and now Lena Headey is in talks to join Banking On Mr. Toad, which will follow the life of Wind In The Willows writer Kenneth Grahame.
Toby Kebbell is starring in the film, which has been in the works for a few years now, and had actually been set up to shoot (with Adrien Brody in the lead) in Ireland before the banking crisis scuppered the plan. Now, with a new cast, it finally seems ready to kick off shooting next spring at Pinewood.
The story will follow Grahame (Kebbell), his wife Elsie (Headey, assuming she makes a deal) and their young son Alastair, who struggled with his health and had to deal with problems for which there was no cure in 1908. Grahame's success with his book – he was secretary of the Bank of England at the time – helped matters. Brian Blessed is on to play Grahame's friend and confidante Frederick James Furnival, who we're guessing bellows from time to time. And there will be appearances from some of Grahame's famous characters, brought to life via CG.
Headey is back working on the final season of Game Of Thrones and will next be seen in Fighting With My Family, which should be out next year.
