While his cinematic focus right now is on returning to the Die Hard movie universe as one of the people shepherding the prequel to screens, Len Wiseman also keeps himself busy developing and launching TV series. His latest job on that front is DC's new Swamp Thing show.

Swamp Thing follows what happens when CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. There, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous... And the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.

The title creature and his attendant characters were created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, and they've been adapted several times for screens both big and small. This new version comes via writer/producers Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman, with James Wan as an executive producer.

Wiseman who has helped kick off shows such as Sleepy Hollow and Swampy's fellow DC adaptation Lucifer will snag a similar title, directing the first episode and generally checking in on the show's creative side. The show itself will premiere on streaming service DC Universe next year.
