The original Star Wars Holiday Special is a figure of fun in fan circles, but that isn't stopping the LEGO Star Wars team from paying homage with its own version. And now we know that Billy Dee Williams, Kelly Marie Tran and Anthony Daniels will be voicing their roles as Lando, Rose Tico and C-3PO.
As for the plot of this new TV special? Punch the synopsis drive, Chewie! "Directly following the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Rey leaves her friends to prepare for Life Day as she sets off on a new adventure with BB-8 to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force. At a mysterious Jedi Temple, she is hurled into a cross-timeline adventure through beloved moments in Star Wars cinematic history, coming into contact with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan and other iconic heroes and villains from all nine Skywalker saga films. But will she make it back in time for the Life Day feast and learn the true meaning of holiday spirit?” The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special is written by David Shayne and directed by Ken Cunningham.
We could've figured Tran's involvement in the show, given than Rose has already been listed as appearing, and Daniels is a Star Wars stalwart, having brought his fussy protocol droid to life (using a variety of technology) across all nine of the main Skywalker saga films to date. But Daniels is a welcome inclusion, and we're intrigued to see how it all plays out. The special will appear on Disney Plus on 17 November.
