Lando Calrissian’s betrayal. Han Solo’s entrapment. Darth Vader’s true identity. The Bespin-set climax of The Empire Strikes Back is one of the greatest sequences in Star Wars history – and now it’s being immortalised not in Carbonite, but in small plastic bricks. Yes, there’s a new Star Wars LEGO set that you’re going to want to sell any spare organs to try and get a hold of – this one’s called ‘Betrayal at Cloud City’, and it’s a best-of diorama of scenes from Episode V’s gut-wrenching finale.
Split into four sections, the set includes Lando’s dining room, the Carbonite chamber, and the platform setting of Luke and Vader’s iconic showdown. It’s packed with mini figures too – Han Solo, Luke and Leia in Bespin and Hoth outfits, Vader, Boba Fett, Lando Calrissian (cloak included), C-3PO, R2-D2 and Chewie included. Oh, and it comes with a Slave I ship and a Cloud Car. And yes, there’s a lever you can pull to plunge Han to his frozen fate.
The set consists of over 2800 pieces, and is part of the more advanced Master Builder series. You'll need considerable galactic credit to pick this one up – it’ll set you back a cool £299.99 when it hits the shelves on 1 October. Still, that’s worth it to be able to recreate the ‘I am your father’ moment over and over, right? And if you need another LEGO fix in the meantime, remember this gigantic Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle set it out in just over a week.
