As the ancient prophecy reads, once the first images for a new movie arrive online, the trailer will not be far behind. And so it has come to pass for The Lego Ninjago Movie, which has launched its teaser upon us all...
Looking to construct the same anarchic style and meta-nudging humour displayed by both The Lego Movie and this month's first spin-off, The Lego Batman Movie, Ninjago takes as its basis the popular series, albeit swapping some of the voice cast and opening up the story.
The Ninjago world is under threat from the evil Lord Garmadon (Justin Theroux), who is officially known as The Worst Guy Ever and is intent on conquering the land. To stop him will require a special team of ninjas, which just so happens to include Lloyd (Dave Franco), a lad still looking to find his way. Oh yes... and Garmadon's son.
Cue lots of jokes about bad parents (Garmadon believes his son's name should be pronounced "L-loyd") and wise-cracking wisdom from the heroic team's mentor, Master Wu (Jackie Chan). Hopefully this one can find the same fun level as its blocky brethren, and The Lego Ninjago Movie will be out on 13 October.
