The end of 2014's The Lego Movie hinted at things to come – especially when the little figures' human was encouraged to play with his sister. Turns out, that might not be the best thing for our heroes as Emmet (Chris Pratt) and Elizabeth Banks' Wyldstyle/Lucy have discovered. Check out the trailer for The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.

Indeed, everything is not quite as awesome as it might appear. Aside from the seemingly oblivious Emmet, the LEGO world is more akin to Mad Max: Fury Road. Five years on, the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild.

The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.

With Nick Offerman, Will Arnett and Alison Brie back as Metal Beard, Bats and Unikitty, the cast is growing to include Tiffany Haddish (Queen Watevra), Stephanie Beatriz (Sweet Mayhem) and Arturo Castro (Ice Cream Cone). Mike Mitchell is the director here, with the original film's Master Builders, Phil Lord and Chris Miller acting as producers and script contributors this time around.

The Lego Movie 2 is out on 8 February next year.
