Brilliant actor, master filmmaker and Hollywood's favourite curmudgeon Tommy Lee Jones will direct, produce and star in Islands In The Stream. He also co-wrote the script with Bill Witliff.
The film is based on a book by Ernest Hemingway that was published after his death. It tells the story of the life of Thomas Hudson, a reclusive painter who lives through World War II, where he serves in the Navy, and then moves to the Bahamas. He also suffers a number of family tragedies and a problematic love life.
Jones has also enticed a sterling pair of supporting actors in Morgan Freeman and John Goodman. Given the talent involved, and Jones' unfair shut-out from the Oscars for The Three Burials Of Melquiades Estrada (which we think was snubbed because the name wouidn't fit on the little plaque), someone should probably start drawing up the 'For Your Consideration' ads now.
