If there's one thing that Luc Besson's latest sci-fi offering, Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets can certainly said to promise, it's visual splendor. That's the focus of the new trailer for the movie.
Based on the French graphic novel series Valérian And Laureline, this idiosyncratic space opera will see the titular Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) as special operatives charged with looking after the human territories of the universe.
Their adventures take them to the intergalactic city of Alpha, a metropolis of seventeen million residents of multiple species, where they must protect the citizens from dark forces. Quite what those consist of isn't spelled out in this "final" look at the movie before it arrives, which contents itself with showing off the array of aliens and strange vistas that Besson and his effects team have conjured up.
We'll find out about the rest when Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets arrives on 4 August.
