Another month, another Star Wars rumour: Yes, George Lucas' universe has been coughing up potential new projects since before the likes of The Dark Knight and Men In Black were even twinkles in the studios' eyes.
The latest possibility to get dragged in by the mighty internet tractor beam is a blog entry dragged up by one of the commentators on AICN (surely the most reliable sources for news out there).
The post in question was by Thomas Dolby, a Lucas colleague who co-wrote the theme song to Howard The Duc****k way back in 1986. Which at least might give him the ability to skip the usual force-choke privacy contract that almost all who come into contact with anything not yet released to the public.
So what does he have to report? He's been visiting California and of course dropped by LucasArts. "My host is friend and former collaborator Paul Sebastien, who over the years has worked for Xbox, Playstation, and now LucasArts. Last night he was telling me a little about the forthcoming Star Wars-related TV show, movie and online games—very cool indeed."
A forthcoming movie? MOVIE? Cue the klaxons! Okay, so we're not getting even slightly excited yet (let's face it, this sort of intel can't even see tenuous from where it's standing).
Plus who knows if Lucas isn't planning to launch the new SW TV show with a film version, much like he did with the latest Clone Wars 'toon?
Still, we have to laugh at Dolby's next little quip: "It sounds like Mr Lucas has got his head into a good place. I met him several times when I was working on a movie in the 80s called [name suppressed to protect credibility!] and he’s a decent chap, but I could have done without the last three SW movies."
Scorch! Naturally, we'll let you know if anything more than a thousand rumours spill forth from this...
