It’s been a couple of weeks since we’ve seen anything from Kevin Smith’s Red State, but as the clock ticks closer to the film’s Sundance premiere on January 23, the writer/director is gearing the promotional machine back up and has auctioned off another character poster for the movie, with website Spinoff Online putting in the winning bid after the usual frenzied cash flow action across half an hour on Twitter.
The site bid $850, which will be headed as usual to a good cause, in this case the South East Queensland flood relief, which has been set up to help those affected by the rising waters in Australia. If you’re feeling charitable, you can hit the link provided to help out.
Spinoff’s largess landed them the new image, featuring another member of the crazed Cooper clan, Mordechai. And talking of clans, the actor playing him is none other than James Parks, son of Michael, who appears in Red State as Pastor Abin Cooper. You might recognise James best as Edgar McGraw, AKA “Son number one" in Kill Bill. He’s also played the role (alongside his dad as Earl McGraw) in From Dusk ‘Till Dawn and Grindhouse.
With John Goodman, Michael Angarano, Nicholas Braun, Kyle Gallner, Melissa Leo, Stephen Root, Kerry Bishe, Anna Gun and Kevin Alejandro in the cast, the horror movie will screen at Sundance, and then, following a bidding auction for the rights, Smith hopes to have it in cinemas by March. Will it work out? Watch this space…
