Back in May, it emerged that Larry David was working on a new, partly-improvised film with Seinfeld / Curb Your Enthusiasm writers Alec Berg, Jeff Shaffer and David Mandel and Paul director Greg Mottola. Now we have a title for the project – Clear History – and word of the casting. David has scored an impressive bunch, including Jon Hamm, Kate Hudson, Danny McBride, Bill Hader, Michael Keaton, Eva Mendes, Amy Ryan, Phillip Baker Hall, and JB Smoove.

David will also star, playing Nathan Flomm, who once worked as a successful, wealthy marketing executive at a start-up electric car company. But a petty battle with his boss Will Haney (Hamm), the founder of the company, leaves him bankrupt.

Ten years later, Flomm is divorced and living on an island off the coast of Massachusetts as Rolly DaVore. Old tensions simmer back up again when Haney arrives to renovate his summer mansion on the island and Nathan swears revenge.

McBride is on to play Nathan’s best friend, while Ryan will be his ex-girlfriend. Keaton is Joe Stumpo, a weirdo who owns the local quarry, while Hader will be Rags, Stumpo’s friend and henchman. Mendes is playing Jennifer, who, in what sounds like a very Curb-style moment, misinterprets an offhand suggestion from Nathan to comic effect. Hall is set to play a construction foreman and Smoove will be a bitter sort who blames Nathan for the end of his recent relationship. And Hudson will be Will’s wife Rhonda, who takes a shine to “Rolly…”

There’s no word on when this will start shooting – especially with all those schedules to juggle – but we’re keeping our fingers crossed it’s soon. Because this really sounds like something we want to see…
