As Get Out continues to be a cultural phenomenon a year on from its release — hello, Best Original Screenplay Oscar for Jordan Peele — one of its stars is taking the lead in another bold satire about race in America. Lakeith Stanfield is front and centre in Sorry to Bother You, a fantasy-tinged dark comedy which has just launched an attention-grabbing first trailer.

Stanfield is Cassius, a young black man living in a parallel version of Oakland who gets a job in a telemarketing company. He soon finds success when adopting a ‘white voice’ to talk to customers, earning ever-greater sums and getting drawn further into the company thanks to his magical ability and getting fast-tracked as a ‘power-caller’.

The film was a Sundance hit back in January, and marks the feature debut from writer-director and rapper Boots Riley. The trailer shows off a vibrant visual style to match the snappy dialogue, and it boasts a top-notch cast including Tessa Thompson as Cassius’ activist girlfriend Detroit, Terry Crews, Danny Glover, The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun, and Armie Hammer as an ominous CEO. It also has an original score from Tune-Yards.
