La La Land Oscar winner Damien Chazelle is already planning to reunite with that film's star Ryan Gosling for Neil Armstrong biopic First Man. He's building an ensemble around Gosling and has added Kyle Chandler and Corey Stoll to the cast.
First Man sees Spotlight co-writer Josh Singer adapting James Hansen's book First Man: The Life Of Neil Armstrong. Armstrong was, of course, the first man to walk on the surface of the moon. First Man chronicles his time as a Navy bomber flyer and then test pilot, where he pushed planes to the limit and beyond. In the 1960s, he was recruited to work for NASA, rising up the ranks and ending up leading 1969’s Apollo 11 mission to the moon.
Chandler is on to play Deke Slayton, one of the original Mercury Seven astronauts, while Stoll has landed the part of Buzz Aldrin, best know as the second man on the moon. The film is targeting a 12 October, 2018 release in the US and 2 November the same year here.
