The Big Short and Vice director Adam McKay likes unpicking the fabric of the real world in funny and satirical ways, so you can imagine why he might be attracted to a humorous take on real spy action written by a former operative. He's now on to produce No Glory, which will star The Big Sick's Kumail Nanjiani.

Fresh Meat and Four Lions writer Sam Bain will adapt a manuscript written by a National Security Operative and author Scott Shephard that follows his time in service to the United States. The unique account is described as "The Rambunctious Patriotism and World-Wide Shenanigans of a First Generation American in the Clandestine Service of a Grateful and Mostly Unwitting Nation."

No director is on board yet, but perhaps McKay might consider the job. "I can’t wait to dig into this incredible true story,” McKay says in a statement. “With Kumail at the helm this has a chance to be really ‘special,’ as Kumail likes to say." He'll produce alongside Will Ferrell via their Gary Sanchez Productions company.

Nanjiani will next pop up as the voice of an alien in Men In Black International, due out on 14 June, and will be physically seen in action comedy Stuber, headed our way on 12 July.
