She's been busy creating and/or appearing on a number of TV series, and recently announced a plan to direct her first film. But Sharon Horgan is also finding time to work as an actor, starring with Kristin Scott Thomas in a new comedy drama called Military Wives.

Peter Cattaneo is in the director's chair, working from a script by Rosanne Flynn and Rachel Tunnard, which takes its inspiration from TV series The Choir: Military Wives, which saw choirmaster Gareth Malone select and train amateur singers to form choirs. The plot follows a band of misfit women who form a choir on a military base. As unexpected bonds of friendship flourish, music and laughter transform their lives, helping each other to overcome their fears for loved ones in combat.

"I tried to talk them out of giving me this part because I can’t really sing," Horgan quips in a statement. "But they just said 'Pierce Brosnan' and so here I am. I love Peter and I’m a huge, long-term fan of Kristin's. I can’t wait to start working with them and telling this story."

With Ben Pugh, Rory Aitken and Piers Tempest as the producers, Cattaneo is scheduled to kick off shooting next month in the UK.
