Given that they scored an Oscar each for co-writing The Descendants, you might think that Nat Faxon and Jim Rash might be taking things easy in the coming days. But nope – they’re throwing themselves into more work, selling an untitled action comedy pitch to production company Indian Paintbrush to star their old mucker Kristen Wiig.
The actress, who was also in contention for a golden gong for her Bridesmaids script on Sunday, is attached to the lead role. Everyone is staying quiet about the specific details right now, but Variety revealed that lots of studios were interested in snagging the screenplay. And who can blame them, with a professional Angelina Jolie leg impersonator among the writing talent?
It’s no surprise that the three are collaborating – Rash, Faxon and Wiig go back to LA improv comedy troupe The Groundlings and we bet there will be plenty of roles for their laugh-grabbing mates if and when the script finds a director.
Talking of directing, in addition to penning another, untitled script for Descendants director Alexander Payne, the duo is getting ready to take a turn behind the megaphone with Black List coming-of-age effort The Way, Way Back, which will star Sam Rockwell and Allison Janney. And when they’re not behind the keyboard, they’re acting, with Rash a regular on ace sitcom Community and Faxon scoring a recent pilot gig in Ned Fox Is My Manny.
