Kristen Stewart has led a fascinating and consistently surprising career post-Twilight, choosing almost exclusively interesting, low-budget, arthouse films in favour of the big-budget blockbusters she could easily have chosen. And so it goes with Personal Shopper, which reunites her with Clouds Of Sils Maria director Olivier Assayas. Take a look at the new trailer below.
Described as an “ethereal and mysterious ghost story”, it sees Stewart play Maureen, a young American woman living in Paris and working as the titular shopper to high-profile celebrities (a job she hates). But there’s also a supernatural element to this tale: as a spiritual medium, she starts to feel the presence of her recently-deceased brother.
The film has enjoyed a decent life on the film festival circuit (including a stop at the London Film Festival late last year). In behaviour typical of one particular festival's contrarian audiences, it received both boos and a standing ovation at Cannes last year.
Also starring Lars Eidinger, Nora von Waldstätten, and Anders Danielsen Lie, Personal Shopper will be released in the UK on 17 March.
