Christmas is rushing to meet us like an excitable flying reindeer, so naturally holiday movies are on people's minds. There's a new one in the works at Sony's TriStar arm, with Clea DuVall looking to direct Kristen Stewart in Happiest Season.

TriStar nabbed the script from DuVall (who has directed indies such as The Intervention, but would make her studio debut here) and Mary Holland. Assuming a deal works out, Stewart would play a young woman whose plan to propose to her girlfriend while at her family’s annual holiday party is upended when she discovers her partner hasn’t yet come out to her conservative parents.

There's no word on a schedule for this one yet, but Stewart will be back on UK screens in psychological historical thriller Lizzie, due out on 14 December. She's also been at work as one of the stars of Elizabeth Banks' new Charlies Angels.
