Kristen Stewart is the latest name attached to a long-developing adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s beloved beat-poet novel On The Road.
Stewart has signed on to play Marylou alongside Tron Legacy’s Garrett Hedlund (playing Dean Moriarty – Marylou’s husband) and Control’s Sam Reilly (as travelling buddy Sal).
A cinematic version of Kerouac’s book has been a fever dream of filmmakers for years, with the likes of Francis Ford Coppola and Gus Van Sant taking aim at it. “I am very much attached to a movie that has been trying to get made forever,” Stewart told USA Today(via The Playlist Nation). “Not that this is going to help it, but maybe I can just brag a little bit. I am super excited about it, too.” Never underestimate the power of the Dark Si... er.. Twilight fan base!
With Coppola producing, Walter Salles aims to get the thing moving at last this summer.
