It would appear that Melissa McCarthy, Ben Falcone and the Michelle Darnell team are taking the dripfeed approach to announcing the casting for their new comedy. Variety reports that Kristen Bell is now part of the ensemble.
Falcone is set to handle the directing chores for the film, which he co-wrote with McCarthy and Steve Mallory based on an idea by the actress. McCarthy will play the title character, a former big shot businesswoman whose career and reputation are damaged when she’s sent to prison for insider trading. Upon her release, she attempts to rebrand herself as a loveable heroine. But not everyone she cheated and hurt is ready to forgive her.
Amongst those will be Bell, as her former assistant, a single mother raising her child and harbouring no real love for her ex-boss. Also already aboard are Peter Dinklage as Michelle’s primary antagonist and Kathy Bates as the mentor that she always looked up to. The film is in pre-production at Universal now, and is already scheduled for May 6 next year in the UK.
Bell, most recently seen in the** Veronica Mars** film, will be back voicing Anna for the Frozen spin-off short Frozen Fever, due to debut in front of Cinderella on March 27.
